Hobbyboss kit converted from the incorrect IIC to IID with the underwing 40mm cannons used to such good effect in the Western Desert by the Desert Air Force. Markings are for well known BP188 JV-Z of No.6 Squadron Royal Air Force, Egypt, 1942. Build thread was here: http://www.scale-models.co.uk/planes-helicopters/18294-1-72-hobbyboss-hawker-hurricane-mkii.html#post159512

Cheers Dave. Yes it is a good little kit, a simple but a good in-between project. It is heavy and quite solid. This is not a kit for those who like lots of cockpit detail and precise dimensions as it has some minor shape issues (nose and canopy), but you get the same profile issues with the more expensive Academy 1/72 Hurricanes too. If you're after a cheap and quick build with a few nice options then I'd recommend it. The SEA scheme decals for the box IIC are the wrong colour, but the Western Desert decals (for a IID but they don't include the 40mm canons, I pillaged these from an old Airfix kit) were of a good standard and went on no problems at all despite some bad publicity on some reviews. My only warning is to always research the markings and paint schemes as the provided instructions are brief and often inaccurate.

Hi Joe!!!

A really nice "can opener" and the camo scheme is well done. I like the RAF in desert uniform. Today I read an article in a german aircraft magazine about the Hurricanes with their 40mm cannons.

Looking forward to your next model.

Cheers

Stefan :D
