I've started a little stop gap project whilst waiting for a big PCM Tempest V to arrive. The bl**dy Tempest arrived this morning so I've got a potential overlap.

It's 1/32 and so far I've stuck the cockpit together.

It's for an aircraft I know nothing about and for the price of this kit, which as you can see has some decent detail, I could but a dozen of the Tamiya equivalents!

Cheers

I'm doing it......I'm doing it :smiling3:

Here's a nicely detailed radial engine.

A bit of Alclad and a nice dirty oil wash and it looks okay.

Remember that this kit cost less than a tenner!

Get that man a beer!

It is indeed. It's been lurking at the bottom of the heap for a long time. I started it yesterday and the Tempest which I really wanted to do turned up this morning. I rarely do two at once but I might start the Tempest once the major construction on the Zero is done. I picked it (Zero) up for £9.99 and for that it is fantastic value for money.

You could write everything I know about Japanese aircraft on the back of a postage stamp and I don't have a single reference book, so it may be a bit approximate :smiling3:

"...A bit approximate".

So it'll be pretty darn good then. I was looking at it and wondering what it was. I could write what I know on a stamp as well and still have room for my understanding of football. And cycle racing....

I'm touched at your confidence Ian !

I don't have any Japanese paints so those will definitely be approximate.......sort of grey and green :smiling3:

Tony I think I will use the pilot. He is very well done indeed and I'm not too keen on the undercarriage so I may do another "in flight" pose. I quite like them as you know and the Zero should look good like that.

No worries Steve, glad the pictures are of use to you. Also a great walk around of a Zero that visited here years ago including detail of the cockpit and landing gear areas: http://www.rnzaf.proboards.com/thread/10979/mitsubishi-zero

I've finally got this mostly built and primed.

It's taken a while, filling all the screw holes and trying to elevate it at least a bit above the snap together type of kit that it is. I finally cracked and have ordered some camouflage paints from White Ensign. They'll cost more than the bl**dy model! At least it will end up the right colour though :smiling3:

I've got the camo on......well I say camo! I've sprayed the underside with "undersurface grey/green" and the top with "Mitsubishi navy green" which is not terribly exciting.

It's modulated and there is some salt chipping, not that you can see much evidence of that here.

Once this has cured it will be on with a Klear coat and decals.

The decals ended up wrinkling rather badly under Microsol (despite the one I tested being okay). I've left them overnight to thoroughly dry out and this morning I've been trying to flatten them out with the aid of a hairdryer and damp make up removal pads.

Warm the decal up with the hair dryer, being careful not to overdo it, and then iron it with the damp pad. So far they are much improved and only one tear to touch up. You might not make them perfect using this method but you can certainly make them very much better. I reckon these will be okay once sealed in with a Klear coat.

I'll post some piccies later.....hopefully :smiling3:
