Hi folks one small tentative step for me into the world off Sci-Fi modelling

I picked this up in the summer from a car boot sale and as the new film is unleashed upon us this week I kinda thought it would be a good time to crack it open.

So the painting guide is a little on the vague side so I need help on the colours for the droid (beige/stone) maybe? And for the Stap ???

Any help guidance comments and info will be greatly appreciated many thanks John

Looking online beige is about right colour for droid.the stap looks slightly more orange than the droid.

Ive got one of these in the stash.......look forward to seeing how you get on cos it has a reputation for being 'difficult' when comes to attaching the droid to the stap....one of thoss jobs where you need three hands apparently

Any very light brown for the droid and something slightly redder for the STAP. Make sure you add LOTS of weathering and chipping to both. If you look at the films, you'll see almost every piece of technology from droids to starships is heavily used, dirty and chipped.

PS Be careful when attaching the STAP to the base. I wasn't and mine tipped over and smashed to bits. I'd highly recommend adding lots of weight underneath the base.

Clean up time and after all the sanding of joints etc.. Time to think of priming and top coats as suggested by your good selves. Should I use hair spray technique for chipping etc or just use a sponge or dry brush lots to ponder over more laters.............. Thanks for your input so far much appreciated cheers John image.jpg

Hi folks at last the weather as improved and the temperature in my man-cave(loft) is now bearable so I've managed to get the droid sprayed (base coat) and he's now sitting in the bath awaiting further attention.

In the meantime I'll crack on with the Stap.

Thanks for looking in and any comments left cheers John

Looking superb John, great work on the droid so far and the scribing is spot on and really enhances the base.
