Hello mates,

Just started this new project.

The kit looks quite good and light years better than the Minicraft I used to build. You can see a snapshot down here.

Big question here. Despite all my research I've not been able to understand if the LERX in the kit is 65 or 100%. According to some review it is 100 and it should then be reduced to 65. Any hint?

Consensus online shows the aircraft presented in this kit should have the LERX at 65% on this one Francesco. Also, referring to the harriersig.org.uk the

65% LERX fits low on the wing leading edge, are flat when viewed from ground level, have distinct flanges attaching them to the wing and engine covers and retain the fire access point in the wing root leading edges. When present with frogs eyes, the fire access point is blocked up.

http://www.harriersig.org.uk/models/lerxv1.pdf

Each serial number is listed with the appropriate LERX configuration.

Yep Joe, you'right and thanks for the useful link.

This is ZD404 so LERX 65% and no Frog Eyes

Now I need to find a way to reduce the LERX without destroying the model. Til now I found no one who made it on this scale.

Pleasure to help. That harrier site was my main point of reference when I made my two. I reckon the LERX could be converted. I would look at removing the kit ones. The 65% LERX looks to be flatter and obviously smaller, as on the box art. You could use plastic card to change it and blend it using putty. The frog's eyes on top can easily be removed (refer box art again compared to the plastic). They are fire access intakes for the engine I think and should be removed and made flush with the fuselage top on your GR7.

Hi mates,

Short update and slow building, I know.

I've replaced the side panels, molded with the fuselage in the kit, made the airbrake, added the beacon under the fuselage and shortened the tail fin base.

In the picture you should also be able to see the front LG bay detailed yesterday.

Thanks Ian.

I was not happy with the LERX I made with metal sheet and remaking them with plasticard.

Hope to post more soon.

To do the operative version I should mount TIAL and GBU, but unfortunately he kit contains only AIM9 so I should make both but I've not been able to find a good pic or drawing of the Pod and I'm still confused about the GBU version (should be EPUC-123 LGB or ELGBU). I will continue my search but if someone could give a hint :smiling3:

You have moved along with this one Francesco. The paintwork looks great looking forward to more although there can't be much more to do,but saying that it is you building this Francesco so anything could happen.

The length of the paveway is 3.27m but sorry not sure how to scale it down to the size you need

Thanks Ian.

3.27m should be 2.3cm in this scale.

We can do it ;)
