Colins M10 Achilles Diorama (Tank busters)

Great kit, loads of detail (hence a couple of "turret off" shots), clean and tidy sprues and only a couple of minor fit issues (due to me altering it a bit).

The tank has no decals as i haven't managed to source the correct ID for the Korean theatre yet.

I used the decals for the insignia on the 17pdr crew basically cos they looked quite neat and i'm not getting into rivet counting ... not at my age :smiling3:

So we have an M10 thats had engine problems due to overheating, it's pulled over and all the crew are unloading all possible items that could go bang and storing them in the nearby rocks.

The commander is watching one of the crew trying to sort out the problem whilst another crew member checks the tracks to see if there's anything jamming possibly causing overheating.

Woww Colin!! This is a top diorama!!!

The action and the distribution of the figures and the tank are perfect.

And the trees are fantastic too!!! You have take care with many details (like the camouflage of the hull with plants) I like't so much!!!

5 stars!

Cheers Polux

Thanks very much chaps, i enjoyed this build .. would reccommend the model to anyone as the detail is great and it's not a quick "throw together" as there's so many detailing parts.

The ammount of parts left on the sprues is great for the spares box too :smiling3: :smiling3:

Thats great Colin, just busy enough to keep the eye moving. And I love the rust detail on the chassis.

Cracking work, 5 stars well earned.

Tony.

Its an ochre wash (in three shades darkened by flat black) and i've blown loose bicarb on in areas to get a little depth then touched this up further when dried. the exhaust had an extra couple of layers of bicarb applied to get a well rusted look.

A very good result there.

I do like that base, it has turned out really well.

An interesting scene with lots to look at. Great job.

Thanks guys...

The base is just a load of polystyrene bits stuck together and blasted with a mini blowtorch to roughly shape it, after that there's a layer or two of cheap wood filler, here and there, to smooth out any joins and maybe add a bit more detail.... then it's a coat of paint, shades of greys work well, finished with brown and black washes.

Just catching up on the threads.........This is really nice Colin, it's obvious a lot of thought went into just how to portray the 'action' and you have got it spot on!

Well done....Big 5*
