I picked this kit up for a fiver at the Newark Show. Its an old kit with not many parts. But it was a lot of fun to build.I wanted to do it as a Korean War Fleet Air Arm aircraft and luckily I had an 'Almark' decal sheet that I bought many years ago.Unfortunately, the blue on the roundels on the sheet was too dark.So I used roundels from a 1/72 'Model decal' sheet of post WW2 roundels out of my decal collection. The Aircraft I've modelled is the one flown by commander Peter Carmichael of 802 Naval Air Squadron. On August 9,1952 at the height of the Korean War he allegedly shot down a North Korean Mig15 in this aircraft.I say 'allegedly' as although he was credited with the kill,it's not certain who from his flight actually shot it down. This model has taken me longer to finish than expected.Thats because last Monday I had a fall at work and broke my right arm up near the shoulder joint. So I've had to finish it with my arm in a sling!.Luckily I had masked and painted the stripes before the accident. The only extras I've done to the kit are add some PE seat belts and add some wing tip lights from clear sprue sanded to shape and polished.
