Well I'm done with this. rather pleased with the result. Maybe the chipping is a tiny bit over the top but I like it.

built OOB with the exception of a resin canopy.

Paints are Xtracrylix RLM colours over Alclad II white Aluminium. Final finish is Vallejo Polyurethane matt varnish!

Hope you like it and comments as always welcome.

Ian you have a very nice finish and the chipping looks as you say a little OTT but I like it too. I've not used Xtracrylics before but after seeing the finish you have achieved I might well give them a shot. The resin canopy was well worth investing in as I can remember the difficulties I had putting the sections together and then trying to hide the joints.

Nice model Ian.

The chipping effect is ok to me. You use the AK product or hair spray?

The chipping on the floats are a nice detail too ;) well painted and clean model!

if you think about it, it is a boat plane and water can wear paintwork and the chipping is on the floats and cowling where you would expect it I like it ,well finished Ian

It is a great model Ian, the chipping is as Steve points out, seawater/spray does half damage paintwork-especially on ali. Superb modelling, I rather enjoyed looking at this.

Thanks chaps.

Polux, the chipping was done with liquid mask from Vallejo. I think next time I will go with the salt. Much easier to get a random effect and remove after!!!

One of the good things with liquid mask. You can paint over it with a brush as well....Or you could just paint the chips on after....

Bloody amazing:eek::eek:, and the chipping looks so authentic. :smiling3:

Exactly as you would expect with the mixture of aluminium panels and salt water.

Just brilliant, well done. :smiling3: :smiling3:

There is a pink one, I think Humbrols. I have one from Vallejo which is blue and safe for acrylic paints. Many liquid masking solutions contain ammonia which is not a good combo with acrylic.

Great job Ian! And welcome to the 1/32 club. Remember, once in you'll never leave mwah, ha, ha,ha,hargh!!!!

Great paint finish. I think the chipping is just a tad too much too but you've definitely got the technique down and it is only the tiniest bit over the top. The paint work is flawless - thin coats, you can see every bit of detail.

'Great build' medal for sure!

Cheers

Excellent build. I think it looks just right for a well worn machine, put it in the right setting and it would be hard to tell from a full size example. Lovely job.
