Hi all just got back into plastic kits. Years ago when I first started I built a model of the monkee's car (does anyone remember them) I remember it was really customized and I enjoyed building it but for the life of me I can't remember who made it I just remember I used to build lots of things like that, the original bat mobile one I think was called beatnick there was one like a western stagecoach hearse all custom cars I used to love building them. My question is are they still made, if so by who and can I get them in this country (especially the monkee's car)

They do tend to go for silly money, this is the AMT version: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/The-MONKEES-MOBILE-plastic-CAR-construction-kit-/171263236671?pt=UK_ToysGames_ModelKits_ModelKits_JN&hash=item27e0159a3f

PL do the original batmobile: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Polar-Lights-Model-Kit-The-Batmobile-1-25-Scale-POL907-2-Cars-in-1-Box-/121201267845?pt=UK_ToysGames_ModelKits_ModelKits_JN&hash=item1c38289485 Looks pretty cool, although not cheap.

You might be right mate , I know I've seen it and recently , the LHS I go to has on occasion had these types of kits , mpc , amt and polar lights stuff , he has a shelf dedicated to them

Pricey though , I saw the 60s batmobile in there today for £30 and I would say it's only 1/35 scale by the size of the box

AMT did all sorts of weird cars when I was a kid and America was a land far far away. I built a couple and they certainly had a charm but they didn't pull me away from real subject scale modelling for long. I saw an example in an Airfix magazine a few months ago and it reminded me of the same kits. I wouldn't pay silly money for one though and I've paid silly money for some things in my time, according to my wife anyway.

Just checked that one out it is actually for 2 cars one snap together pre painted the other a normal glue kit, don't know why you would want the snap together kit as well? But a bit more searching I have discovered that Hannants has lots of the models (most are AMT some are Polar Lights) so thanks eddiesolo and guys if you think that one was pricey Hannants have one with PE for £70.00 don't know if the PE makes it worth £40.00 more.

Hi all I just spent £158.00 on models ooops in my defense that did include some paint and some microsol\set (never used it before but thought I would give it a go. But it also includes an AMT mystery car won't say what it will spoil the surprise, The Batmobile,The Beatnik Bandit, The monkee's mobile, Triumph Tr 4, Gloster Gladiator, DeHaviland Tigerand a Messerchmitt BF109E-4. Should keep me busy for a couple of days.

Is that 2014 and would the monkee mobile be applicable I don't know if they made a movie with it but it was in the series. I know the bat mobile will be eligible so would the mystery car but that will be built long before October

Yep 2014. Ian has all the details here http://www.scale-models.co.uk/threads/the-build-calendar-for-2014.22825/

Did some searching and The Monkees did have a movie but it wasn't a success. Unsure if the car was in it, http://ultimateclassicrock.com/the-monkees-head-premieres/
