I've got a bit bogged down with CAD and cars, so fancied building something that goes together easily as a quick build. Heard good things about the new Airfix 1/24th Spitfire, so the rest is history.

I was shooting for 'restrained' with weathering on this one.

Thanks for Looking!

Beautifully done. "Restrained" approach really does it justice :thumb2:

It’s not attached. Bit of a compromise, I can remove it for cockpit shots and also close it and the canopy up if required. It just means I can’t correctly show it hinged open with a no-doubt controversial red/black crowbar. The colour of which seems to cause more arguments between spitfire aficionados than anything else so I just avoided the whole business

That looks great!

You've also managed to get the panels on over the engine, which I failed to do.

According to the late Edgar Brooks, who knew a thing or two about Spitfires, fittings for crowbars were installed on the MKs. I & II, from February,1941. I would assume that crowbars were also provided thereafter since nobody was going to break out of a cockpit with a couple of clips!
Crowbars were factory fitted from January, 1942 (mods 320 & 483). Wartime crowbars were in various colours, green, black, or unpainted. Red came post war, probably something to do with 'elf and safety'.

BTW it’s that damn big I was struggling to think how to photograph it. Separately I’m also part of the Adobe Beta program so have access to the slightly scary and much maligned ‘Firefly’ AI system. So you basically type in what you want, in this case ‘World War Two Airstrip‘ and it trundles off and GENERATES a photo of what you asked for. this in fact

so to be clear, it hasn’t searched some kind of photo library, it’s knitted it itself based on its understanding of the words I typed. It was then just a question of sending it to a biggish telly I prepared earlier

now I read that back, I guess it is slightly scary.
