An interesting camo scheme - this aircraft was originally in the standard RLM70/71 splinter camo, but was overpainted with Sandgelb. A nice kit to build, though the snake decals were a bit challenging! Also Airfix missed off the white background where the snake goes over the air intake scoop, so I had to paint that in later.
Worst mistake was that I unmasked the pilot's dive sight window in the cockpit floor before spraying the clear coats, hence the 'frosted glass' appearance.
Wondering whether to add a dust wash. What does the forum collective think?

I'm with Neil on the fact to cover up the paint job would be a shame after your hard work Pete. I'm with Dave too, about losing the piece of masking tape in the dive brake flappy. A beautifully finished model, Sir!!!...

Now I really like that Pete. Love that snake. I'm sure it should be rather dusty but if it were mine I leave it as is - it's just too striking.

A nice job there, Pete. Masking the canopy wasn't easy for sure but the general outcome is first class.
To dust or not to dust... the paint job you did is really nice, but even if placing that Stuka just outside the painting shop, a little bit of dust, especially on wheels, would be unavoidable in the desert.

A splendid example of a Stuka. I don't envy you the task of masking that greenhouse of a canopy.
It wasn't exactly fun, but came out OK I think.

There seems to be a consensus that the model needs some dust, so I'll squirt some of this at it later:

if I don't like it I can always wash it off - that's one of the nice things about the Flory washes.

How's this?

Doesn't show much on the upper surfaces, which I suppose shows that Sandgelb is a good match for desert sand. Interesting to see the build-up on hte leading edges of the trailing edge flaps.
Does it need more?
Pete
