Hi All

As promised here are the finished shots. The wheel and gun bay doors have been added note that the gun bay hinges from the bottom and not from the top as the instruction would have it.

All in all no problems with the build and for the price £15.99 you get some nice detail. All comments welcome.

Superb Vaughan you just keep pushing the edge. Nice clean & crisp.

Very nice photos as well.

Question I like the engine shrouds. How did you achieve that effect ?

Thanks Guys

Laurie I'm not sure what you mean regarding the engine shrouds they're just sprayed and weathered in the usual way.

Beautiful build and paint job. I admit I thought you wouldn't get there at one point but it's well worth the wait. Nice touch posing the canopy and engine covers open to reveal all the excellent detail (and hard work) inside. You've got an awful lot of "bang" out of your fifteen quid :smiling3:

Thanks Steve I was very pleased with the end result, my daughter spotted this one in a local toy shop and bought it for me. I was a bit reluctant at first as it didn't have a prop but was pleasantly surprised. Tamiya do a 1/48 scale version and this comes very close regarding detail and quality.

It actually takes a lot of care and attention to achieve a very clean yet very realistic effect. I think it would be fair to say that none of these aircraft ever got chance to get old and tatty so they would generally be looking fairly new. The weathering though is subtle and perfect to enhance the model and give it realism without making it look unnecessarily dirty and grubby. Lovely carefull washes and dry brushing and a beautiful cockpit.

Opening the doors and hatches take this to another level. How about putting it on a concrete stand with a single armourer next to it? Very simple but a human element would give it another dimension. The concrete base needs nothing more than a joint between two concrete slabs and a tuft of grass so very simple but would really enhance the model.

Si, Ian, Richard and Gern thank you for your comments. I really enjoyed this build as it's not the norm for me but despite not having a piston engine it was still interesting enough with the jet engine detail and interesting lines of the plane. Thanks again

I will experiment of course, but what would you recommend for concrete in 1/72? Plaster perhaps, finished to scale-sized roughness?

I have read that "wet and dry" at the correct grit size can look like tarmac.

Really nice work Vaughan.
