Small stones & Rubble.

I've been racking my brains trying to think of what I could use for roadside rubble & small stone's for my up and coming desert diorama.

While doing some work in the garden using postcreat I noticed it had very small stones in it, so I sifted out the cement & presto all the small stones I could ever need & just the right size.

I had the same problem John very recently.

My wife is a mad keen gardener (on believe it or not our flat balcony) and at the garden centre I had an idea and visited the bird and the aquarium area. Both had a selection of stones and grit fine and coarse. Cheap as well.

I sift mine from bags of course sand. Filled a bucket last time I had some sand and still got 3/4 of a bucketful after three years....

Yes but Peter at least in Dartmoor Princetown Prison all is founded, free meals, free boarding plenty of exercise divorced from the world of corruption. Lots of men in uniforms guarding you. And you are complaining.

you can always use fine bird grit,or even a fine type of cat litter,

as with the litter being whitish ,mix a sand color sock the litter for a few day, then place on a tray

to dry,and it it still looks a little big ,,use a hammer on it then ,you get a range of colors from were

the paint socked in or not, giving a nice blend, ;)

so for all you people who knew about this and kept it secret I'm impressed :D

I don't think you could get a closer match to sand in 1/35 scale

There is just one major disadvantage Alan about using cat litter. Cats like to use it as well for its primary use.

How do I know that. We had 2 cats. I found one one day sitting amongst my models on one of the shelves. It obviously thought the tarmac runway area, which resembled cat litter, was ideal.

That's why I keep mine up very high, with no "jump of" points near Laurie ........ Not for the Cat litter thing but Eric thinks everything that isn't nailed down is his to play with.

Ha-ha you've clearly not seen the work of Francois Verlinden then Alan! He's been using kitty litter since the 80s!
