Outstanding work, Ian!!!!! I love the 111. May I ask advice on how to paint the frames on the glazing??? I have used a #2 and #11 blade through tape but have had very poor results as this always cuts the plastic beneath the tape. Thanks!!!

There are some lovely shots there of some superb aircraft, thanks for taking the time to post them. I like the delicate weathering especially the shading on the Fortress and the 111.

Hi,

When i mask up the canopies i do each frame piece one at a time, This may seem a bit tiresome but but the end result is a frame worth shouting about, It only took me a day to mask/paint the HE111 canopy.

I use tamiya 6mm masking tape which is cut in half length ways this makes it curve and there is no need to cut the masking tape on the clear parts, There is nothing worse than masking/cutting then painting the frame only to find that your cutting wasn't bang on and you have a horrible lines on a part of the window.

This tamiya lancaster and the blenheim has all the frames indavidually painted.......

Heres a few pictures of how i do them, many a people have asked how i've done my canopies

Ian:

Thanks for the info. I realize there are no shortcuts in building when striving to achieve excellence! I can't wait to try the methodical way as you just described perfectly! The photos really tell a lot as well. Take care, Jeff

Hi,

I hand paint all the canopy lines, a bit tiresome at one at a time or if i can mask up a few lines at once, but doing it this way ensures very neat canopy lines.

I use 6mm tamiya masking tape which is cut in half so it curves nice around corners etc

i even got into an arguement once saying that my canopies are pre-painted :lame:
