If it’s not Fort Bragg I think we’ll need a hint.......is it Northern Europe?

Sorry Randall, it's not Ft. Bragg.

....and yes Tim, it's to be found in Northern Europe.

Like Tim I had also already assumed it to be in Europe due to the appearance of the building, but I’m having no luck narrowing it down. Is it anywhere American paratroops made a combat jump during the war? Because that would limit it to only a few places.

Top sleuthing Jon!

Here is the trooper in all his glory...... Please excuse the wife's rear end!

Normandy France May 2013 815.jpg

This village is far and away the best place to visit when in Normandy. We did an extensive route following of the 101st and this place is just superb.

There are plaques depicting what happened where and loads more besides.

Anyone thinking of going over to Normandy do the beaches of course, but go a couple of km's inland and you will be amply rewarded with some fine history.

Over to you Jon......

Is it the Patchett prototype that later became the Sterling?

Yes it is.
The Patchett Machine Carbine Mk.I.
Trialled from 1945 and used experimentally in service until the Sterling,a direct development of the Patchett, was introduced in 1955.
