The idea for this one came from a single entry in the Guinness book of records, one American is supposed to hold a collection of several thousand pairs of pliers ! well I dont think we need to go to that extent but here are a few ideas for the ones that you could need for model building-

Bull nose pliers-A good starting point especially if they have parallel jaws which will grip the item evenly, more expensive but well worth seeking out.

Run of the mill items are only a few shillings.

Pointed nose pliers-As described, pliers with a pointed nose, beware of cheap ones which do not close properly, also a sloppy centre bearing means that they will skew when closed whilst gripping the job in hand.

Available in different sizes but be sensible with your selection, the longer the jaws the more they will twist.

Flat jaw pliers-Useful for gripping jobs whilst soldering but dont forget to place some insulative material between the jaws.

Gripping pliers-Used by surgeons etc now generally available, the jaws lock together by twisting the ends, very useful for holding delicate and awkward items.

C-Pincer pliers-Limited use for model building except the miniature versions.

Side snip pliers-useful for cutting soft materials, buy the best and not soft putty rubbish metals.

Thats about all you will need for our purpose, add or delete as necessary and by experience.
