Well i have been busy sanding and thanks to the white plastic being very thick the roof has levelled out quite nicely, there is a swage line on the beetle roof i have sanded into the white plastic to blend it in ,i have done away with the gutters as it gives a cleaner look and to fill and sand round them would be a nightmare, next i will reshape the tailgate and its aperture, also the engine lid will need to be sussed out and then it will ready for filler and many hours of sanding, oh joy!!20220815_211926.jpg20220815_211917.jpg20220815_211746.jpg20220815_211653.jpg

Quick update, the tailgate has been narrowed by 7mm and the top of the window frame lowered about 3mm,headlining has been cut down to fit the cab section and i have started removing the chrome trims that are mould to the front half as there not on the rear half and not something i can replicate to match.20220816_210505.jpg20220816_211020.jpg

Is this the same Mark that was so worried about building an aeroplane? You are beating this hands down!

(Not to rain on your fun, but ou do know you can buy this as a kit.... Sorry I was googling to see if anyone had had the idea to put the engine in the front. (never found out) but there are a good handful of these in real life! then I saw the kit.)
I am sure that your build will be far more rewarding than the kit.

Cheers Ian, i did see one but it was a lot of money and besides i wanted to try my hand at some scratching and expanding my skills so this is a learning exercise for me .

Never intended it as an easy way out. more a heads up to anyone else that might want one but cant scratch there own elbow, let alone what you are doing.
It is giving me the itch to have a go at the landy safari samba bus. Any good Land Rover kits in 1/16 or 1/24 that has the full frame chassis. trans and motor.?

Ive built the revell 1/24 land rover and it is a good kit, one of their hits and not misses.

Dont happen to have the wheelbase and track on that in mm - off the kit- by any chance. So i can measure it up against the Samba Bus I have...

A bit more tinkering, ive made a headlining to match the the front section by cutting some sheet to size and running a scribe across it and also done the same to make a new parcel shelf/engine cover,it will still be fitted with rear seats because as a van its pretty impractical without a side loading door, ill be making interior panels for the van sides as well.20220817_234320.jpg20220817_234429.jpg

A bit more progress, bodywork still being filled /sanded etc and in the meantime i have started getting some colour on the interior parts, ive put a majority of the engine together, done away with the tailpipes and made some from aluminum tube and gave a little polish. The blue is a lighter /greyer shade than the picture looks.20220820_235438.jpg20220820_235920.jpg20220821_001101.jpg
