I've just finished this one.Its a simple kit of not many parts.Im pleased with how it's turned out.But I think Trumpeter could have made a better job of it.For nearly £30 there are a few things that let the kit down.I had to replace the decals with more accurate items. There was no gun sight or seat back brace. And Trumpeter give you crude underwing bomb racks, but no bombs!.I used a couple of 250 pounders from my spares box.And the guns look too long to me.Its a Pitty Airfix Havent released one.I reckon they would have made a much better kit and for less money.image.jpg

Hi Dave

Great result on the Whirlwind. The paint finish is flawless and the build real quality. I have a fairly mixed view on Trumpeter kits some are great (the 262 for instance) and some are quite flawed (I had a similar experience with the Stuka decals as you - wrong size markings etc). Generally though I think Trumpeter kits build very well and fit issues are minimal it's just such a shame that the kits aren't accurate.

That said, you've got yourself a great looking Model there Dave and will look great in the collection

All the best

Paul

Lovely model of a lovely looking aeroplane, very well done.

It's a shame the real thing didn't go as well as it looked :smiling3:

Cheers

Top job Dave , lovely clean build. I must agree with you about the cannons looking a bit too long ,especially the lower ones, doesnt detract from a fine looking model though , cheers tony

Great build, great subject! The cockpit shot looks brilliant - not everyone would dare get that close with a photo.
