Next time you go shopping, stop by the floor polishes section and grab a bottle of Johnsons Clear ( or could even be spelled 'Klear') this is one of those products that although it was never ever intended for modelling is just perfect for many jobs in your workshop, for protecting transfers, sealing joints, coating cockpit canopies, even sticking them into place as well and it can also be used for a no smell wood primer on balsa in domestic situations, just keep experimenting the possibilities are endless.

My bottle is now well over twelve years old and still going strong,it is not a polish as such but a liquid floor finish,it sets like rock and will even seal tissue,it is so thin that it adds very little weight as well.

There really is nothing else that you could compare it with because it is so crystal clear when it dries,it is very good at flowing out when painted on with a soft brush.

For a few quid you have a universal varnish with many uses beyond what it was intended for-coating kitchen floors !

Mark,no it would be best to treat it as an acrylic finish and give a thin brushed on sealing coat of Tufcote to be on the safe side.

For sealing foam with very little weight increase it is worth looking into.
