Now come on Guys. We all know that Paul can't resist improving a kit where he can. I think it's something in his local water supply that's caused this illness...

I think we should take a wait and see attitude here. After he scratch builds the whole Bergepanzer to his liking, he may, and I mean 'may', use a few of the decals that are in the kit's box..........Or maybe not...

Fascinating watching this come together.
Thanks Arnold.
Paul’s builds are a work of art and are always amazing to watch
Joe, that is very kind of you to say but far from that just having fun.
Hahahahahahaha.

I quote from Pauls first post on this thread;- "The intention is to build this out of the box".

Really!!!! Honest Paul, we do believe you!!!

I've got a bridge to sell you ;)
Ha ha as long as it's not Tower bridge as I put in an offer
Well … maybe he takes the parts from the sprue in the box? ;)
Jakko, that would be it lol.
Please don't tell anyone

Managed to get back to the bench foe a while and my attention turned to the Jib. First job was to add the missing welds to the turntable base. Not sure I am happy with them but they will do.

Next The angle indicator should have been glued into place, but given I don't know yet ay which angle I will pose it at I drilled through the jib and fixed the indicators both side to a piece of copper wire which allows them to move so I can position them later.

DSCF4327.JPG

The items that are fixed to the LHS of the jib were detailed and added. And the solid eyelets were removed and replaced with copper wire.

DSCF4326.JPG

The cable supports were added which are missing from the kit were added from scrap etch.

DSCF4328.JPG

The biggest pain in the kit so far was running the cable round the pulley blocks. so I made a jig to keep them in the right place so I could run the rope and tighten it. when this was done I could offer up the completed block and put the axle pins in. The end of the roped were run down the jib and secured the other end was anchored in a block made from pewter.

DSCF4330.JPG

Finally for now the hook gate was replaced with copper wire and a piece of sheet and punced discs.

DSCF4331.JPG

Eight small holes were drilled in the base of the hook block which you can just see in the picture In reality they have bolts in them but they give an idea.

comments and suggestions welcome as always

cheers Scottie

Its no wonder I prefer to show and build wreaks , just can't reach that level of skill. Most impressive Paul, can see why you were an armourer:thumb2:

What, it only looks like that and doesn't work when you move the crane?
Shame on you, Paul, what a lousy construction! :tears-of-joy:
