Just had a catch up after being away & you've done a lot to your diorama Richard, the base has come out very well & the pigeons look good too.

Hi Guys, I've started painting the figure...
First pass of painting figure. The gloss from the black ink doesn't help with the photo.

I have to blend the highlights and shadows in the next step. A coat of flat varnish will make it pop.

Just superb work! excellent painting indeed.
Thanks Steve, still a lot of fine tuning to do. Got to search for my decals for unit patches and insignia...apparently not in the box of figures. Don't fancy painting them.

Hi Guys,
I've smoothen out the highlights and shadows and gotten the shade right. Also I've given him a five o'clock shadow.

The bench work was worked on and the radio equipment received some paint. Touch ups and chipping will be done later after I have painted the other parts of the bench. The bayonet scabbard dropped from my accidental brush with it.

I watched the diorama displays at Monsoon on YouTube for inspiration and saw a few that competed last year in our local MALCOM especially the movie clapper board dios.

Cool pose nice job Richard
Thanks Lee, modifications are quite enjoyable if you know where to cut and be willing to sacrifice some detail that needs to be resculpted.
Looking good Richard. Soon be pigeon time.
Thanks Jim, if the pigeons get to me I'll probably make a mini barbeque of them.

Cheers,

Hmm, are the pigeons all going to be gathered on the railings and back of the bench, looking expectant?
Or would look too much like a prequel to 'The Birds'?

Nope, they'll be seen usually in a mob frenzy like women at a sale at the foot of his feet. He probably spread bread crumbs before dozing off.
Slowly layers are painted in in this group...

Meanwhile while resting my eyes I got my signature base stand done and out of the way. Just need to blend the edges to the groundwork.

Raised it about 2 inches so it won't get hidden amongst the rest of the displays.
