You are right Steve, it will improve with age, just like I didI dont brush paint, I think Ron is the man for the best advice. That said on these old war birds sometimes the imbalance in color can be to you advantage. Looking ahead by the time you add decals some panel lines and exhaust smoke and generally grub up the wing you may find you end up with a good effect so my advice is battle on with it. You may be pleasantly surprised with the end result.
Look at this bad boy Garry. So much weathering for you to play with. Have fun.You are right Steve, it will improve with age, just like I did
As far as I'm concerned, once I have finished she will look fine, I am pleased that I did this one with a hairy stick though, it was a good learning experience.
Really coming on Garry. Not sure if I mentioned it before but pastels are a great, cheap and easy way to apply some exhaust stains and leaading edge grime. Shout up if you need any help on how to apply pastels.Sprayed gloss varnish on so that I can attach the decals.
It's amazing what the camera picks up that my sad old eyes don't, so it looks like some touch ups are called for.
Though it also depends on how "used" I make it, weathering covers a multitude of sins, doesn't it, as Steve noted above

Thanks Jim, I'm sure you're right.Looks good to me Garry. Your brush painting is fine. In reality I'm sure these planes didn't have a neat and tidy finish. By the time you have weathering and decals it will be spot on.
Thanks Steve, my go to for grubbying models up is oil paints (I have lots), but thanks for the offer.Really coming on Garry. That is more than acceptable Garry. A very well presented model of an iconic plane. You should be proud of what you've achieved.Being that this is only my second aeroplane build, the result is acceptable to me

Thanks Chris much appreciated, you're a gentleman.
Thank you StefanNot having built an aircraft myself that looks absolutely brilliantly built to me. As your second wingy thingy build you should be very proud. I especially love the exhaust residue over the upper wings.

Thanks Andy, next up is the racing GBWell I think that looks great Garry. If that's only your second airplane, I can't wait to see more.
Thank you Mark.A nice result
Thanks Steve, I will get those spinners sorted tomorrow, and then I'll post another pic.Great result Garry. I am glad you perseveared with this one. I think the paint job worked out well and you have a good representation of what the aircraft would have looked like in its day. I would like to see another photo with the spinners attached if possible.
