I’ve been fiddling around with the cat tails and other grasses to get a silt like, kind of muddy pond look… I think I’ve been able to achieve that. When viewing please Don’t pay attention to the slight discoloration in the water as it has not fully dried yet… First time that I’ve tried AK interactive Stillwater and so far I’m a big fan. I aLao used some AK interactive mud as the base as the previous rock ballast did not suit what I was trying to achieve. The blue tape is simply to hold the sides so that the Stillwater did not leach out over the terrain. So far this is two layers of the AK still water product and it seems to give a suitable type of depth.
nd it seems to

That's a shame about the cracking. Do you think maybe you applied it too thickly? I understand its meant to be built up in very thin layers of 2-3 millimeters at most (1/16-1/8") , rather than as a deep pour.

I truly don’t understand it myself Andy… multiple thin layers and it still cracked. After more unsuccessful attempts with very thin layers I had to abandon the AK interactive Stillwater product and go back to old faithful Woodland scenics realistic water. I don’t have the clarity in the water that I did before and had to resort to a murky green brown pond 5241BAAD-B81F-422B-883C-3D00AF32AE01.jpeg51CD625B-F5E2-435B-96F2-505993E35708.jpeg

Hi Joe

Just had a catch up. Shame about the water, that was looking very good indeed. The 'shrubbery' is looking very good indeed but keep an ear out for the dread 'nih' word!! ;)

Keep up the great work.

No more schwimming in the pool…I wanted to give the ground a wet look…like just after a brief downpour,,, luckily the troops arrived at the pond just after the shower..otherwise the one schwimmy would have been filled to the brim with water…lol

So I am calling this one done. Thank you all for looking in and kind comments

Nice and compact dio Joe. Shame about how AK water reacted, nearly bought it to try. Sounds like it behaves like acrylic that shrinks and cracks. I've seen this behavior on paintings in museums. Weird that it behaves this way if its resin. Does it dry fast? The longer it takes to cure the better to get clear and glossy.
Irregardless it doesn't take the shine off the dio finish. :thumb2:

Cheers,
