Thanks Monica, I'll keep you posted.
Thanks John yes I've worked out how to cut large precise cirles in plastic and add a type of trim ring to clean up the hole.

Right monica, secret stuff now! These are wood drills. You sort out what size you need to cut the hole, place the centre spike where you want the hole to be, but don't put it in a drill use your hands or a handle that will fit the shank. Now don't turn it clockwise, turn it anti clockwise or it will tear the plastic and leave a jagged hole. Use it like a craft blade cutting/marking a door out use the backside of the blade.
Slowly turn it anti-clockwise or backwards and gradually it will make the centre larger until the outer spike touches the plastic, which will make the hole.
I have placed the plastic on a small model vice so the centre spike goes down between the jaws that support the plastic sheet. Slowly keep the drill upright at 90 degrees, and the outer spike will gradually cut the perfect hole/ port hole . Now think of what other uses this has, larger wheel arches etc.
I've bought a pack of five from the local diy store, not expensive.

these are the drill bits, I have chosen 16 mm as my perfect size on this build.
I have used some scrap plastic the same size as I want to use on the build and produced these...

I think the small one is 12 mm and the larger 16mm, anyway you just cut the size you need.

Yes Monica they cut a very neat hole, which needs a little cleaning up with a half roud file.

I don't like the huge fuel tank so left it out. I have put some matt white I use as primer on the body, hinged cover in front of the engine, the roof, front nose valance and the nose/light unit. It has dried nicely and now has the first coat of brilliant buttercup yellow! The main of the body is Tamiya Candy Apple Green.
