Ok guys, I just couldn't leave these chaps without arms and the pilot without his Mae west...

All done with Magic sculpt. I even added gloves on the pilots lap.

The vacforming process failed as I couldn't get the heating right. Must have been lucky the first time I did it for my Stirling nose glazing. So I sanded the inside of the canopy and polished it with a commercial rubbing compound and dipped it in Future that got rid of the frost look.
Haven't taken a pic yet...will do this evening as I had to rush for the clubs annual meeting.

Here's the main canopy after sanding of 2/3's of thickness and handled delicately incase it snaps...

Now it slides easily into place like the real thing.

Should have done this instead of trying to vacform it...perhaps I should have trusted my ability to sand and polish having done it before.

I've given the figs a dark prime and zenithel coating before painting. Sculpt seems to blend in.

Breaking out the paints and wet pallette.

If you guys hate masking please look away. I've covered everything from cockpit to props and spinner plus blutacking to spray the dark green camo on the Spit...

Meanwhile also gave the figures some bad habits of smoking...

Excellent work on the figures. You have certainly improved them a great deal. I'm glad the canopy worked OK. Polishing that "U" shape is difficult to do without cracking the plastic - I did just that and had to send off to the manufacturer for a replacement. Luckily the customer service was good. Do you find Blu-tack can leave a mark? As always great modelling.

Thanks Jim, polishing the inside of the canopy has its advantages as holding it between my fingers I can add pressure against the finger as a backing when polishing. If it were the outside I would have to tape the inside and fill putty to strengthen it.
So far the blutac I'm using doesn't leave a mark. I'm using lacquer paints and it cures quite fast.
Anyway the finish was a bit flat so I have remasked panels that will get shades with an airbrush.

Still masking in process.

It's as subtle as it can be for 1/72 scale, for me that is.

It's so light that I'm afraid a clear coat might just make it disappear.

Hi, gloss coated this morning with Future and started decaling in the late afternoon. Half a day of curing ought to be enough for an acrylic. The weather has been odd these few days so the paint behavior is erratic leaving a bit of orange peel which I will solve by light wet sanding after decaling and another thinned light coat of Future.

The light coat of varnish will take away the cloudiness from the reaction of Mr Mark Softener on some of the decal edges.

Thanks Jim, the oddity is hot, humid and cool rain all in the same day switching places so you can't tell when to paint gloss coats.

Black with brown pin wash done. I can assure you its there as the engraved lines are very fine and not drains for this scale.

It's more apparent on the lighter underside.
Will probably stand out under a coat of matt varnish.
