I started this a week or so ago, but a normal, I'm a bit useless at an interesting build log. So the following pics show where I'm up to, well sort of.

Firstly, let me say a bit about the kit.

This is a really nice kit. It comes with quite a bit of PE and a few masks as well.

The moulding is really good, no flash anywhere.

This is the interior, PE seat belts and seat, all included in the kit. The instrument bezels are PE as well, shame they're a bit off target, I'm sure they were ok !

The Lewis gun is made up of 12 parts. I haven't fitted the wind shield yet.

A very open cockpit - poor pilot.

Below, a trick used to replicate the wing ribs.

It is actually all painted up now, I'm just in the process of fitting all the eyes for the rigging. A long slow job.

Thanks for having a look gentlemen, and yes just a bit different to a B36. Can you imagine any DH2 pilot, standing looking up at a B36, probably wondering how the hell it could ever get into the air.

So, a little bit more has been done.

The pictures are a little dark, the actual green is a little lighter than this. Some of the rigging eyes are in place.

The underside with masking removed, this is the 'fake' ribs I was after. it's the same for the upper wing.

Even more rigging eyes in place. 42 so far fitted. At the moment, I haven't decided what I'm going to do with the control lines.

Now time for some decals and a bit of a wash. Strange things these WW1 things.Everything seems to be built out of order.

Looking superb. Me and string don't mix so with Terry on that one.

The wing details trick worked nicely Colin. Lots of detail in this one, enjoying the updates.

Thanks for the input gentlemen.

Well, my last pic before the dreaded wing alignment. This could take me the rest of today to get right !

That sounds nice Dave. I think you can buy the eyes ready made, but it's not difficult to make your own as I have here.

So gentlemen, I present the 'wing alignment tool Mk 1a'

Yes that's right, I spent the afternoon playing Lego.

I'm interested to see how you rig this.I bought some thin plastic strip for my Gladiator. But I am now thinking fishing line would be better.

I've made a start with the rigging. I'm using fishing line for the firts time Dave, it seems like good stuff.

View attachment 71144

The fishing line is 0.085mm diameter, the tubes which represent the turnbuckles are 0.25mm inside diameter (I think) All secured with a spot of CA. If any of the lines end up slack, a little bit of gentle heat from a hot scalpel blade will tighten it up nicely. I've cheated a bit here. Instead of giving each line its own eye, most of them are sharing eyes.

This wing isn't near completion yet - well, lots more to do.
