N1K2-J build

That's right, Lindsey.

Natural metal finish first, and then I used a cocktail stick to apply the masking fluid. After the top coat, just gently rub the masking fluid off with your finger.

The only problem I encountered was that I pre-shaded my panel lines too thick. This mean some black also showed through with the silver beneath my green - the touching up brush came out at this point.

Okay, I'm on the home run with this build now. I just have a few small details such as undercarriage, cannons and radio mast left to do.

The flaps are just loosely placed on the model for the sake of weathering. Notice the headrest - this was actually made from wood in the real thing. If I did another of this type I'd try using some balsa instead.

Next photos should be the finished build :smiling3:

I need some more super glue so the mast in super straight and then I can add the second antenna wire.

Thanks, Ian! My first 5 stars : )

Being able to share the process with like-minded people is very close to the enjoyment of the actual building.

It seemed everything was against this build being completed tonight - I knocked my glue over and spilled it all over the desk very near the plane. Then holding it under the light to brush on pastels, I dropped the George! It hit the desk and a few parts came flying off. Luckily nothing was broken and it glued back in place ready for photos : )

Alex, outstanding build 5 stars from me as well. Great job on the weathering, really like the streaks on the flaps. The chipping paint is just right without being overdone too. Nicely done Sir!!!
