Just had a catch up with your build Colin and its looks really good. As Ian said it will soon change when the top coat starts going on

Thanks Mick, not quite in the same league as a certain F16 I can think of !

Work continues, the first part of the top coat has been applied. Ok, so what am I doing here? Well, I’m having a go at pre-shading with the top coat. A little odd, yes, will it work, maybe. However, if I don’t try to do something, I run the risk of having a huge area of boring Extra Dark Sea Grey.

Now it’s time for me and the compressor to have a little rest.

Just had an interesting and leisurely read up on this one Colin.
Some cracking work going on..... When I saw that last pic I thought," Blimey that's gonna be one cool camo scheme".... and then read on to see it's a base for pre shading ! ;)
...... Looking forward to seeing how it turns out :smiling3:

And here’s the result.

The paint work trick seems to have worked. I built up the layers of paint and then just when I thought maybe one more coat, I left it and went to bed. Now in the cold light of day, yes, that’ll do.

Looks great. I am enjoying your build, the old Matchbox Sea Venom is a kit I have always wanted to build but not gotten around to.

Thanks Ernie. Unfortunately, the cost of these kits has ‘taken’ off. I was lucky and bought mine ages ago, when prices were reasonable.

On with the decals. Unfortunately, I’m having to deal with a bit of silvering, despite having a gloss coat.
And he has a nose, with 37g of lead. I’m now starting to think I’ve overdone the excess ‘just to be sure’ weight.

Thanks Steve and Tim.

Now then what’s cool? I’m not cool, actually I find it really difficult to think of anything that is cool, except for shark mouth’s on aircraft. Who doesn’t appreciate a nice shark’s mouth on an aircraft?

Granted, this looks a little strange, but its still a shark’s mouth.
