About another 80 stencils put on , and the same to do on the other side then its guessing time with the pylons and stores . Ive also got the polish checkerboard , aircraft no. and the special marking on the nose put on . The nose decal was very tricky as it isnt on a background of carrier film , just the ‘S‘ shape ,so it took a lot of straightening out and positioning. Good news is its looking better every time so its got me over that brick wall !D3D82FA6-93C8-4960-B5A4-C041FF988225.jpeg58CDC3E9-8B7C-4024-A1BD-14E387D49B6C.jpeg

......and just one more reason I don't do modern jet aircraft! Patience of a Saint Tony, and it is remarkable, the amount of signage they stick on aircraft nowadays. :thumb2:

Rest of the decals on the other side now , so far its had about 400 separate decals applied and theres still about 40 or 50 to be put on the pylons and stores! Speaking of which , the placement sheet is all but useless , none of the numbers match any of the decals and a lot of them are duplicated for different decals - eg. Theres about 12 number 36 decals indicated but they are all different shapes ! I think the original kit decal placement sheet might give me a better idea of whats to go where.FBB9B7C9-3C76-4F47-A9AF-BCFB6E739711.jpegB3326CD1-14AB-47EC-92E9-B3DCD01460CD.jpegCA74BC16-EF82-4DC4-9AAC-405F9D6579A5.jpeg7E803DD7-77C9-4218-B16D-EA6023FE0F90.jpegD014864A-53C8-4C22-8746-2E85F363A737.jpeg01D11807-CA32-43D7-B0EE-77CA918B2F01.jpeg1D2BBD0D-B8F1-4EB9-A6FA-C9A40700C9A8.jpeg

Wow Tony, better you than me Bro!!! It really has to suck not having the correct numbers on them and then trying to find out where they go....But you are still going at it........

So, does that make you an A. or a B. in your post on the Rooskie tank you're building???......

Prost

Saw a two-seater 22 in grey camo this weekend. What an imposing aircraft. One of my favorite Cold War Soviet designs.

Once upon a time, when they were still performing a dynamic duo display at airshows (my photo, Kescskemet, Hungary, 2013).

At last !!!!!!!! Ive put on the final bloody stencil !! The ones on the pylons and stores were placed by a combination of looking at the kit decal placement sheet , studying photographs and blind guesswork ! Also - in the finest traditions of IKEA flat packs ive got all these bits left over !!:smiling5:5485C4DE-81F3-4216-BF44-8E8F3B0CE7B9.jpeg77D5E841-180D-4517-B651-A6111E6D521D.jpegE857F44D-371D-409C-9A84-5818E5D5AA46.jpeg
The am decals also provided a small colour profile of a ww1 aircraft , the mount of Stefan Stec , which should go on the drop tanks . Trouble is the sheet shows them on the bigger tanks , the kit only supplies the smaller ones so i shouldnt really use them ,but i might do yet . Next up is to give everything a coat of satin to seal the decals in and give a nice uniform finish.

Well after recovering from a bad case of Stencilitis , im now moving on a bit quicker with this one :smiling5:. The whole airframe and associated bits ( wings, elevators , stores etc.) have been coated with Klear to seal all the billions of decals in . A final satin coat is to be applied later. Several very vulnerable bits that would definitely have got knocked off if I had fitted them earlier in the build have now been added , namely the two nose probes and the ventral fin , the probes are yet to be painted.
