Bit mean to ask for the station.
It's Hampton Loade.
Two down from Bridgnorth and a lovely little place.Walk down from the station to the river and get the manual ferry across. Lovely pub on t'other side and fields of long grass.Did some of my courting there in the old days!
Also the river is great for barbel.
I think it's got to be Tim again for saying it's a pannier tank.
Jon.

A Beattie Well Tank Locomotive. Water kept in two tanks in gaps in the frame - one under the front axle, one under the cab.

Hi Jon
It’s a 2-4-0. LSWR 0298 class, built around 1870. Designed by Joseph Beattie for suburban traffic. Three were transferred to the Bodmin and Wadebridge in 1898 and ended their days there in the early sixties. Two of those are actually preserved.
Cheers

OK, as we've done cats, it's now time for a dog. Name this man and his dog, the action they took part in and the unusual denouement of their story:

Darn it! I said I was giving this up....

That's Private "Jack" Corteil and Glen of 9th Parachute battalion.
They were both killed in the episode when Brigadier Hill basically got his buttocks blown off.
originally part of the Merville battery assault group they dropped wide of the mark and were attacked by British planes,Typhoons according to some accounts, trying to get to the target.

Well done John. What became of them though that was so unusual?

They were buried together in Ranville cemetery after being relocated from the initial collective grave.

That looks like Kon Tiki, sailed by Thor Heyadal. Made out of the hardwood called balsa. I remember following that in junior school. I’ll need to look the rest up....

It's actually RA II, which Heyedahl sailed from Morocco to Barbados. It's made of papyrus and is in the Kon Tiki Museum in Oslo.
I was enthralled by the RA voyages as a kid.

Any way it's not Kon Tiki.
Peter.Correct in every respect.
Photo was sent to me today by my friend Katy along with some great pics of original long ships.
