Cheers MarkLooking good Tim, lovely job.
I know Dave….the truck’s not bad eitherBeautiful
Cheers Paul. I looked at lots of pictures, mostly film stills, and the truck always just seemed dusty, not totally covered in muck. Pastels are great for that, as long as you don’t handle them much when you finish. That's really nice Tim. As others have said, the restraint on the weathering makes it all the more convincing.
Cheers Bob. It’s a great kit if you ever want a palette cleanser.Mighty fine vehicle Tim,!!
Good job sir
Rumours is she terrorised Old Florance Nightingale!! Ok off to hideTim , Matron was of course extremely impressed, says it took her back to her war years . I didn't ask which war she meant !

My thanks to the committee. I would thank Matron personally, but as she reminds me of Bertie’s Aunt Agatha, I’ll give that a miss……Tim , Matron was of course extremely impressed, says it took her back to her war years . I didn't ask which war she meant !

Hi Andy. Thanks for the compliments. Tyres are quite simple really. I paint them dark grey (panzer grey in this case), drybrush them in a lighter grey made from black and flesh colour, then give them a wash with diluted game colour black wash to define the shadows. I dilute it fifty fifty with water and add a drop of flow aid. If you use it neat it’s too overpowering. Weathering is quite subdued. If you look at desert stuff the dust usually coats the surface of the tread, not the grooves…….I used pastel chalks in this case. Mixture of white and Naples yellow (I think, can’t check from here) ground up on a scrap of Emery paper.Just seen this Tim... cracking job mate, looks superb
I particularly like the finish on them there chunky tyres.... what's your method for getting that look?!
Cheers Steve. Glad you like her. Recovery starts now….I’m in a hospital ward, fitted with a cannula, waiting for my infusion to arrive……should be out again by about fourThat has certainly repaid the effort you invested in it! Hope your recovery goes apace, well done mate!
Steve
Cheers Andrew. Very kind of you. I prefer understated to be honest. Some guys are great at heavy weathering, but when I do that it looks like I’ve slung a bucket of mud at it…..desert vehicles always look gritty, not filthy, to me anyway.Well young Timothy what can I say.....
.....'Most excellent!!!'
A really top notch finish, subtle and understated, and all the better for it.
Hope the RA calms down.
Very well done indeed!!
ATB.
Andrew
