Masking, don’t you just love it :rolling:

But how satisfying when you’ve finished painting and you get to take it all off and all is revealed :smiling4:

Classic RAF day fighter scheme, lower fuselage Medium Sea Grey with Ocean Grey/Dark Green uppers.

Paint used were from AK Real Colours (Air) series.
It’s the first time I’ve used these in anger so to speak since deciding to switch from acrylic paints and all I can say is WOW :surprised: what a difference to acrylics.
They are very easy to use, I thinned them 3/1 with Mr Hobby Self Levelling Thinner. As you can see they give a nice finish, they are quick drying to leave a nice gloss finish, no tip drying etc.

I’ve also added some brake piping to the undercarriage doors before painting.

I’ve also painted all the component parts so it’s just a case of putting the transfers on, a bit of light weathering and putting it all together.

Another update soon, thanks for looking :thumb2:

Coming on very nicely. I've used that AK? putty before and really liked it. Need to perfect the technique but much easier than blue tack and tape.

Oh dear, it was all going so well then this happened

IMG_3111.jpeg

The decal solution has reacted with the paint, leaving a bleached effect.

Oddly it is only on this one spot the others are fine, I don’t know why .

I can’t leave it like this though so I will try and remove the decal, mask and repaint.
I have one spare decal left so fingers crossed it goes to plan.

The trials and tribulations of modelling, don’t you just love it :tears-of-joy:

That's a bummer Geoff:sad-face:,
I had to remove some decals just the other week,Mike,(Scratch builder), suggested using sellotape and it worked a treat.... wrap a bit around your finger and dab it onto the decal.Credit to Mike,an excellent fix .

Can you cut a mask for the decal and then respray or is there damage underneath.?

I did consider that but it’s underneath as well I think.
I’m also worried any suitable masking will damage the decal, they are quite delicate.

Ouch.

Thats a surprise as lacquers are usually tough as old boots.

It sounds like you have a plan though so fingers crossed.
