Tim,

It was attacked by an FW190 - the subsequent explosion threw a piece of the boiler into the air.
The aircraft struck the debris and was severely damaged and plummeted to the ground. Pilot killed.

Thomas the Tank Engine had one drink too many on a night out with the loco's and had a bust up with Gordon the Big Engine over who should ride Mavis the Diesel engine back to the engine shed??

I so want to say Steve is correct, but alas and alack, it’s Paul for the prize. For those that are interested it’s a LBSC Railway E3 tank engine, by this time in Southern rail ownership...the only loco to shot down a plane....unless of course you know better

Yer, but, this FW 190 was shot down by the engine itself, not the guns in the trucks on the back....anyway, if you were the pilot shot down by the RHDR armoured train you would probably be far too embarrassed to admit it. It would be like getting run over by Noddy LOL
