OK, new one, but again not that hard once you work out what is going on....

What was unique about this gun when it was fitted?
Bonus points for also knowing which ship it was fitted to, and which ship it ended its days fitted to.
Cheers all
Tim

I know that photo … Single-gun mounting, so it’s probably a more-or-less experimental 18-inch gun, the biggest ever used in the British navy. A little research says this photo is on board HMS Furious in 1917. The gun ended up on either Lord Clive or General Wolfe but I’m not sure which of the two this one went to.

Jakko buddy, spot on....Fischer’s folly writ large. Not experimental though as far as I know. The monitors did actually fire them in anger. Yamato had slightly bigger bore guns, but these fired a heavier shell...
Your go....
Cheers
Tim

I meant “more-or-less experimental” in the sense of: they were fitted to a couple of operational ships, but they weren’t enough of a success to build more. Let’s see what I can post now, as I haven’t given it any thought yet …

How about this one?

That’s the one. It’s the HF.20 in the National Military Museum at Soesterberg, Netherlands. (Well worth a visit, BTW, if your interests include pretty much anything military-related.)

Easy is always relative … some kind of modern military vehicle, and by the looks of it, slightly too modern to be easy for me. However, a little research based on the apparent camouflage scheme and your location as shown below your avatar, leads me to suspect it’s a Hawkei:

(That, I must admit, I’d never heard of until a few minutes ago :smiling3:)

I find the name weird … “ei” is Dutch for “egg” so I more or less read the vehicle’s name as “hawk-egg” :smiling3:

But since we’re being nationalistic in our pictures, let’s see you all guess what this is:

Yep, it is. So much for trying to find something more difficult :smiling3:
