As an aside to the actual build,
The decals are superb imho... they are ready to slide into place very quickly ;) ... And also,(again in my opinion),top quality as far as detail goes...
Hopefully you can see the ones under the nav board.. (WHY DO WE SPEND ALL THIS TIME DOING THOSE TYPES OF THINGS?!!),

Some more details..

Not the best of pics, however, it's actually coming along quite nicely so far ;)
Hopefully I'll get some more progress, and better pics!!,up tomorrow evening

Fantastic looking cockpit andy , please tell me youre going to use the open canopy option, it would be a crime to shut all that detail away , cheers tony

Great work Andy. Like Tony I think it should be made as visible as possible.

Thank you both guys, much appreciated ;)
.. and yes,it will be an open cockpit, although I'd like to put some crew in... Mind you, that's proving to be a little tricky  ....
.... We'll see though. ;)

That's looking real nice Andy
Cheers Mick :smiling3:
Loving that pit Andy. Excellent detail. Seriously, I’d leave out the crew though, they will obscure the detail.
Thanks Tim, yes it's rather nice, better to the naked eye in fact,I must admit that, unusually for me, I'm thinking of leaving the crew out... Although that does mean that I'll have to tackle etch seat belts for a first time!! ;)

Wow Mr. Smiff!!! You two are really making very nice progress on this. Pit looks great and, I too agree you need to leave it open for all to see inside. Great stuff Andy!!!...

Seeing some of the open cockpit models on here I have this plan developing in my head to skip the driver and have a member of the ground crew stood on the wing by the open cockpit maybe leaning over the cockpit or holding the harness waiting for the jockey to strap in!!
But!!! As I haven't started or even own a wingy thingy yet it will remain an idea until then.

PPPPS - another awesome build then Smiffy or should that be Smythie!!

I ask myself that question all the time. Some really nice cockpit work there.

Andy.

The Revell boxing is just the latest for this little gem - It has also been reboxed by Italeri, Eduard and Academy. The original dates back to 1997 from Accurate Minitures. It says a lot for AM that it still equals the latest models. I have several Accurate Miniatures in the stash, and they are all of the same quality - their Avenger was superb - again reboxed by many makers.......................

Thanks to everyone there for the thoughts, and comments :smiling3:
.... Been tackling a few more aspects...
IMG20230608170223.jpg
Someone called out for an empty cockpit.. so Etch seat belts were the order of the day :smiling3: ... Yeah,I know, they're the ones I didn't use for the Avenger,(Just don't tell anyone!!), thought I could utilise them, the kit only had decal versions, which, imho, weren't anywhere near good enough,so here we go....
IMG20230609163410.jpg
The turret basket ones in there, but I'll mash them into shape tomorrow ;) ..
IMG20230609165304.jpg
The Pilot's seat there, again, not looking like I can see it,but quite happy so far. :smiling3: ...
IMG20230609164950.jpg
Added a few bits to one side,in lieu of dry fitting...
IMG20230609172924.jpg
A dry fit, just to ensure the stuff fits from one side to the other.. I quite often find they don't always align as necessary!!
But all seems ok so far... Tomorrow's update will show the tale of the tape!! ;)
Thanks for looking in as always. ;)

Nice job on the belts. Always think they add finesse to a cockpit.
Interesting that your TBF ones are completely different to mine (also made by Eduard). Mine are far too large, so are impossible to fit properly…..only one of the issues I’ve had with the Eduard cockpit set for that bird…..
