It’s the nose of a V2 rocket on its trailer, but I haven’t got any idea what the fittings are for.

Evening Jakko, With 6 months of research for my project, You stumble upon many interesting things and oddities. These are just one of the interesting things and I couldn't believe what they were either...

Looking again, I don’t think anything comes out of them, so perhaps something goes in them, and is held in by what looks like screw fittings...
Another dumb guess, flagpole brackets?

You’ve put your finger on our problem there :smiling3:

They seem to be designed to hold something, because both appear to have large hand-screws on them for securing an object. Umbrellas/parasols to protect the nose from rain and sun is all I can think of …

Are they motors to open the clamp?
The wing nuts then do the final tightening when not in use?

I haven't got a clue... just waffling cow poo! :tears-of-joy:

Sorry Gentlemen for holding up Peter's turn (please don't hate me Peter), but I just got in from work. Ok, they are for holding something, but not parasols or umbrella's and they aren't used for motors or fueling in anyway. They do have wingnut screws...

If no one gets it in the next few hours I'll answer it and let Peter drive on!

Sorry John, It's not the clamp for holding the rocket in place on the trailer. It's the little tube on each side of the main clamp on the trailer we are looking for.

They’re on the parts of the nose clamp that hinges away, and they seem to be angled slightly outward. They’re also not present on all trailers, going by other photos (though John’s picture above shows a different trailer than Allen’s). In nearly all the photos I can find that do show them, they don’t seem to be used for anything, except for this one:

But I can’t even tell from it if the lamp-like device is attached to the tube or not.
